This is Mrs H’s awesome netball team, Southland Girls High School 10B. As a team they are a great bunch of girls. A fortnight ago they played James Hargest Snr C and won to qualify them for the final on Saturday. In the final they faced a very strong Makarewa team. They started the game with vigour, determination, committment, team work and a belief in themselves. Perviously, Makarewa had beaten them by 7 goals. As the game progressed the crowd swelled and the level of cheering soared when it became clear that this game was going to the wire. Goal for goal it went so that at full time the scores were locked. The game would continue for another 9 minutes and 30 seconds before Makarewa managed to secure the win, that being gained a 2 goal lead.
One of the great things about this game was the way the two teams joined together at the end congratulating each other on the spirit of the game and out of respect for the skill level on both sides. Mrs H was really proud of the way her team played and although they didn’t win (gutted) they played an awesome game.
